The Marquette Area 4th of July Committee is calling all area dogs to enter a new
event this July 4th: The Marquette Sunrise Dog Dash. The 1-mile or 2.5 mile run
/ walk with your dog, in the cool of the morning, away from Independence Day
noise and crowds, will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, rain or shine. Entry
forms and information can be found at www.marquettejuly4th.org. Registrations
may be mailed in advance, or participants can register with a check or exact
change event day at Picnic Rocks Park from 7:00-7:45 a.m. Proceeds from the $5
registration fee, which includes a Marquette 4th of July button, will help fund
Marquette's 4th of July events. The first 50 dogs entered will receive a U.S.
flag bandana. The fastest overall dog in the 1 mile and in the 2.5 mile event
will be awarded a trophy. A costume contest for entrants will take place right
after the run / walk at approximately 9:15 a.m. at Picnic Rocks, with 1st, 2nd
and 3rd place prizes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs must be
leashed and have current shots, and it is required that owners clean up after
them during the event. Entry forms are available at the Sports Rack,
Mares-Z-Doats, and the Chamber of Commerce; or call 249-1011.

Lake Shore Blvd. and East Fair Ave., Marquette, Michigan.

First 60 entrants also receive 4th of July bandana for
dog. Checks payable to Marquette Area 4th of July

NOTE: This is a fun run / walk.

2 Overall Fastest Dogs
will receive trophies: 1st in the 2.5
mile and 1st in the 1 mile.
(This is not a timed event; please wear a wristwatch to clock your own time.)
NOTES: Dogs must be well-behaved,
leashed, & have current shots. Owners must pick up after their dogs at Park and
on the course. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
No dogs allowed on beach in Picnic Rocks area.

consideration of my participation in the Marquette Sunrise Dog Dash on July 4,
2009, I hereby release and discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless, the
Marquette Area 4th of July Committee, its officers and agents, as
well as other individuals and entities contributing support to this event, from
any liability for damage to or loss of personal property, sickness, and/or
injury from whatever source, legal entanglements, imprisonment, death, loss of
money, etc., which might occur as a result of my participation in the Marquette
Sunrise Dog Dash. My participation in this event is strictly voluntary, and I
understand that my participation will involve physical exertion and may subject
me to physical injury. I hereby state that I, and/or my minor child, am
physically able to undertake the activity level required to participate, and I
understand that neither the Marquette Area 4th of July Committee nor
any sponsor or supporter of the event provides any medical coverage to any
participation in this event. I also allow use of any photo and / or video of
me or my minor child taken at the 2009 Marquette Sunrise Dog Dash for
publicizing the event.
