Our 2011 Theme: "Light U.P. The Sky On The 4th Of July "

Parade starts at 2:00pm Monday, July 4th, 2011

Parade Route is once again along Washington St.
note - finish line is 3rd and Baraga (not Rock)

Around 1pm the intersecting streets usually start getting barricaded,
so if you want to park near the parade route, get there early.

2011 Marquette Area 4th of July Parade Grand Marshall

Peter and Audrey Kaufman

Representing the 4th generation of the Kaufman family, Peter and Audrey clearly understand what a special place the Marquette community is, not only because of Marquette’s natural beauty, but most importantly because of its people.

The people are the true assets of the area.

Peter and Audrey feel strongly that the Marquette area is not only an important part of their lives, but provides an opportunity to support the community both through the foundation that bears the Kaufman name and in their personal lives.

They are honored to be chosen as representatives of the community for the Marquette Area 4th of July Parade, hosted by the Marquette Noon Kiwanis Club.

If you wish to be in the parade, you must print out this Application Form and mail it to us at the address shown above.
Sorry, US postal mail is the ONLY way for you to send us your parade application, and it’s the only way for you to get in the parade.

Note #1: We LIMIT the total number of parade entries.

Why? So the parade doesn't last too long. Community as well as parade participant feedback we've received over the years tells us this.  Last year our total was around 75 - 80.   We aim for a parade where the last entry reaches the end of the route by no later than 4 pm.

Note #2: We reserve the right to reject parade entries that we believe to be blatantly inappropriate or simply blatant business advertising.
Why? The purpose of this July 4th parade is a FAMILY friendly event that honors our community and nation's HERITAGE and FREEDOM.

Parade Entry Fees:

     Individual: $25
     Non-Profit: $30
     For-profit (business): $100

Business pulling a float: $100 or cover sign
     Political: $250

Marching Bands: $0 (No fee applies to any walking music group)

Once you've sent in your Parade Application :

History tells us the following questions will probably be on your mind.

* How will I know if my parade application has been received?
* How will I know if my application has been approved?
* How will I know where I am in the parade order?
* I mailed in my application and I haven't heard anything...?

You will most likely NOT be "hearing anything" from us, because
this next section is intended to hopefully answer those questions.
And it should be updated on almost a daily basis.
If you have further questions, then please send an email.

Trivia Question :

True or False?
"The Marquette parade and fireworks are either hosted, run, put on, or funded by local   government, i.e. the City of Marquette"
Answer :
False.
The parade and fireworks (and this website) are put on solely by the efforts of many volunteers, and monies in the form of donations and to a lesser extent the parade entry fees.  Please consider helping us out so we can provide you with a very enjoyable parade and spectacular fireworks.
